Measuring Wrought Iron Fencing

  • Step 1: Identify Crossbars. Focus only on the horizontal and vertical rails. Do not include any parts of the pickets that extend past these rails.
  • Step 2: Measure Vertical Height. Measure from the bottom edge of the upper rail to the top edge of the lower rail. Ensure the banner height matches this or is slightly smaller will ensure the banner is taunt when installed.
  • Step 3: Measure Horizontal Width. Measure the inside distance between the vertical posts.

Measuring Chain-Link Fencing

  • Step 1: Total Length. Measure between the two thick terminal posts. Pro Tip: Subtract 1–2 inches from this total to allow for proper tension.
  • Step 2: Height. Measure from the top rail to the bottom rail. If there is no bottom rail, measure to your desired stopping point.
  • Step 3: Check Hardware. Ensure the banner area is clear of protruding bolts or sharp hardware to prevent tearing.
  • The Tension Rule: Keep the banner roughly 1–2 inches shorter than the actual fence height to prevent sagging or ground contact.
