Use these stories to teach children about bullying. There are 4 versions. One for eagles, bulldogs, bears and panthers. The only difference is the type of mascot, and the challenges they face. Feel free to pick one, and change the mascot to whatever your school uses, and share it with your students. Let's make the world a better place - one good example at-a-time!
Eagle Tears
Once there was a little eagle. He was different from the other little eagles. He was smaller, and try as he might, he simply could not fly like the other eagles. As hard as he flapped his wings, he just could never get off the ground. All the other eagles just laughed and laughed and laughed. They call him names and made fun of him wherever he went.
One day he cried and cried. He just felt so unimportant, and so very alone – he was miserable. He knew he had a good heart, and could do very helpful things, but… no one seemed to notice those things. They only saw that he was “different.”
One day, a flock of eagles looked down and notice him sitting on the ground, crying. They decided to swoop down and see what was going on. Much to their surprise, they noticed that, as each tear filled his eyes, ran down his sad little face, and hit the ground, it turned into a sparkling colored crystal. There was a pile of the most beautiful colored crystals they had ever seen at the feet of the poor, broken-spirited eagle.
The head of the flock turned to his fellow eagles and said, “This is very special, indeed! From this day forward, no one shall ever make fun of this little eagle again. Just because someone is different, doesn’t mean they can’t do truly wonderful things. Let these crystals remind us forever to be kind to someone who seems different because they may be able to things that we can’t.”
